Half-Life — Escape From City 17 — Pt 1

02.13.09 | Permalink | Comment?

I’m a big fan of First Person Shooters, but for some reason I’ve never played Half-Life. I haven’t a clue what the game is about.

But I can tell you this, after watching the first part of a Half-Life “fan film” created by the “Purchase Brothers”, I’ll be picking up the game on my way home from work today.

According to The Purchase Brothers, “Escape From City 17″ is a short film series adapted and based on the Half Life computer game saga by Valve Corporation. Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, and no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

Well done Purchase Brothers, well done.

The 9 Ways To Treat A Woman

02.10.09 | Permalink | Comment?

What? You haven’t ever watched any of BriTANick’s (rhymes with Titanic) sketch comedy videos? Well, you’re just going to have to remedy that by playing the video above, “The 9 Ways To Treat A Woman”.

Because, as the video educates you, there is obviously only 9 ways that a man can treat a woman.

The strange thing is… I’m pretty sure I use at least 6 of these on a daily basis… Well, that sure explains a lot!

The College Humor Show

Did you all know that The College Humor Show premiered on MTV last night?

I didn’t. I don’t get MTV. Not that I don’t want MTV, Dish Network doesn’t offer the channel in HD (yet) so I don’t have it. I’m an HD snob, if you don’t have it in HD, I don’t watch it.

But I did watch it online. It’s everything I hoped it would be and more.

I’ve been a fan of collegehumor.com for what seems like forever. To see these guys rise from the depths of college hell all the way to… well… MTV, it’s kind of inspirational.

They have everything I want. I hate them.

More videos, as usual, inside.

She Knows The Truth

02.06.09 | Permalink | 2 Comments

I’ve been wondering for a few weeks what the new hook of the show would be. I mean, they had the whole “Who is the fifth cylon” thing going for so long, I think a lot of people were kind of lost without it.

Not anymore!

“She knows the truth!”

WHAT!?!?! Truth!? Truth about what? Why earth is a radioactive dump? Why the cylons lived there? Why the final five had no idea they were cylons? Why dogs like to fart and pretend that it didn’t happen!?

One thing is for sure… She was able to be reborn and she was nowhere near a resurrection center… At least, not one that we know of. They are still very close to earth, I am guessing there is one there.

Also, I am guessing that by the end of the series we are going to see the end of Galactica. The ship is a dump, falling apart, and they’re already hinting about it.

So what is it people? What’s this big truth that Helen, the final cylon, knows?

Bad Video Friday

02.06.09 | Permalink | 1 Comment

As I’m sure you gathered from the post title, I have decided to dedicate every Friday to a video, or series of videos, that I find to be excruciatingly bad.

That’s right. Bad.

I know I promised that ClaytonBoen.com would be dedicated to the great talent found on the Internet, but I’m finding that I learn more from bad works of art than I do from good ones. You can view something good and enjoy it, but when you view something bad there’s something inside of you that had to pick it apart. Something that forces you to say to yourself, “Self, I never want to do what these people did. It’s so bad! I need to figure out what they did wrong so I NEVER do it myself.

So in the inaugural week of Bad Video Friday, I present to you: “Couch Cases”

“Couch Cases” tries to mimic successful shows like “In Treatment” and “Web Therapy”. It doesn’t do a very good job.

But instead of me talking about why its so bad, I want to invite you all to talk about it. What did they do wrong? What would you have done differently? If you’d like, there are a few more episodes inside the post… Watch them all, if you can (I couldn’t).

Old Jews Telling Jokes

If you were to make a top 10 list of the funniest things, I am guessing “old people” would be on there somewhere. I mean, they’re just so cute, you can’t help but laugh when they do… well… almost anything!

Hrm… Maybe that’s just me…

Anyway, I present to you, Old Jews Telling Jokes!

Sure, it’s hard getting to the punchline, but once you’re there it’s worth it!

Is there any humor in this world better than potty humor?

This clip has animation, video games, popular culture, and potty humor all rolled into one! How could a web series get any better!? (no really, if it does, I want to know about it!)

On a daily basis the YouTube community never ceases to amaze me. Only a day after the now infamous Christian Bale tirade against the cinematographer on the set of Terminator 4 was released we now have a techno music version of it.

God Bless America!

YouTube Games: Fun or Fad?

02.01.09 | Permalink | Comment?

On Friday I posted what I called a “Choose Your Own Adventure” YouTube video game. Today, I ran across yet another, posted above.

The fact I ran across so many (this is the third I have seen, the first being the now popular “Street Fighter” YouTube game) YouTube games has be wondering: Is this a new form of game, or is it just a fad or gimmick?

What do you think?

Interactive Hottub (Jacuzzi) Girl

Did you ever read those choose your own adventure books when you were a kid? I did… and I usually ended up dead. Stupid books.

On the bright side, YouTube has now become advanced enough that users can now create their own choose your own adventure video! That’s right kids, you can now pretend to hit on girls that are WAY TOO HOT FOR YOU.

Well, she isn’t THAT hot… But you get the point.

Are you wondering if I ended up dead at the end of this one? Well, yeah, basically I did. I thought that (SPOILER ALERT) it would impress her that John Stamos was my friend.

Oh well!
